Apparently Paul Giamatti is currently in talks to star in director David Cronenberg’s new film Cosmopolis. Already attached to the film are Colin Farrell and Marion Cotillard. Right now Giamatti is just in talks, no final deal has been reached. There is also no news on what role he would play.

According to The Playlist, the plot is as follows:

Cosmopolis follows 24 hours in the life of a newly married billionaire as he cheats on his wife, is pursued by a stalker, gets attacked by a protester and gradually loses his entire fortune over the course of a single day.

Not much else is known about the film. Cronenberg is a proven director though and Farrell and Cotillard alone would make the film worth seeing. Throw Giamatti in the mix and you have a recipe for a very good movie.

Right now Cronenberg is still at work on A Dangerous Method, starring Viggo Mortenson, Michael Fassbender and Keira Knightley. That’s one film I can’t wait for. It’s the story of the relationship between Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud and how their relationship gave birth to psychoanalysis. Sounds really good.

Cronenberg has made some great films, A History of Violence, Eastern Promises, Videodrome and more. I’m definitely going to be keeping my eye on Cosmopolis.
