It’s that time of year again. Time to make the final predictions about how this Sunday’s Academy Awards is going to turn out as well as which nominee(s) I feel to be the most worthy of taking home the award.
As of the last episode of The Vampire Diaries (and the last one we’re getting for a while,) there are no happy couples in Mystic Falls – or even unhappy ones for that matter. For the first time in the memorable past, no one is really dating any one and it’s not for a lack of trying.
People hate Tim Tebow more for the coverage he receives than for the person that he is. And that’s unfair. Some people hate Tebow because he seems too good to be true, and that’s even sillier. Jeremy Lin is starting to receive the same kind of treatment.
There have been some interesting new developments on The Vampire Diaries lately, and surprisingly they don’t revolve around the love triangle that is Damen/Elena/Stefan, although that makes for some juicy plot twisting as well. Klaus (Joseph Morgan) is actively pursuing one Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola). Not only did he save her life a few weeks back, well technically he used his “freaky syer bond” with Tyler (Michael Trevino) that put her in that uncomfortable looking position, but this week he invited her to his family’s reunion ball.
Awards seasons and the Oscars in particular are always very divisive. People will argue for hours and hours on end about which film deserves to win, and which film didn’t deserve to be nominated. More often than not, the Academy completely misfire and award just the wrong movies the big prize when there are better movies battling against them.
Eli Manning not only put together the best season of his career, but he showed a flair for the dramatic with multiple 4th quarter game winning drives. Six in the regular season and two more in the post season.
The Final Fantasy series is one of the most legendary game franchises of all time. It’s been around since the very first game graced the NES 25 years ago as a last ditch effort for Square Enix, then Squaresoft, to stay afloat. Hence the name Final Fantasy. Since then, the name has spawned more than 50 total games, two movies, a concert series and one of the most dedicated followings in all of the video game world.
As memorable as Final Fantasy is, none of the games are absolutely perfect. This got me to thinking: what if you took the best aspects of the games in the main numbered series, and made one super, awesome, franken-game with it?
So let’s have a little fun and figure out what really would make the perfect Final Fantasy game.
Eli Manning just finished up the ’11 season throwing for nearly 5,000 yards, and he has his team on the brink of another Super Bowl title. In 3 playoff games this year he’s thrown for 923 yards with a 61.8 completion percentage and 8 TDs to only 1 pick.
Before you start yelling blasphemy, allow me to explain. I am in no way doubting Christopher Nolan, Christian Bale, Tom Hardy or anyone else involved with The Dark Knight Rises. I fully believe that this film will be huge, massive, gigantic and any other synonym that would be apt to use. I fully believe that it will make over $1 billion dollars and I fully believe that it will have the impact that everyone is expecting it will have. I also fully believe that it will be an exceptionally well done film that will leave most moviegoers with their most memorable theatre experience of 2012. I really do fully believe all of that.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith has seen his fair share of ups and downs since being the National Football League’s first overall draft pick in 2005. San Fran’s top decision at that time was between Smith and current Packers QB, Aaron Rodgers. That alone is a tough comparison for Smith but, while Rodgers had the chance to sit and learn for a few years before stepping into a talented offense, Smith was pressed into action as a rookie on a bad team.
