Universal To Bring Silent House To Blu-Ray In July

Universal will be bringing the one-shot horror film Silent House to Blu-Ray in July. Elizabeth Olsen stars in the low-lit, creepy one-shot horror film from directors Chris Kentis and Laura Lau (Open Water). The film advertised itself heavily on the one-shot aspect and rightfully so, because that is where the film succeeds the most. The mood is tense and the atmosphere is thick, but that's where the compliments end.

Universal Studios has announced Silent House for Blu-Ray in July.

Elizabeth Olsen stars in the low-lit, creepy one-shot horror film from directors Chris Kentis and Laura Lau (Open Water). The film advertised itself heavily on the one-shot aspect and rightfully so, because that is where the film succeeds the most. The mood is tense and the atmosphere is thick, but that’s where the compliments end.

The rest of Silent House is safe, predictable and boringly long.

I was disappointed with the failure of the film, because I honestly loved the opening minutes. It’s just a shame to watch a film with so much potential fall down the drain as quickly as it did. The ending is bullshit and most of the stuff leading up to it doesn’t help.

Our very own Christian Law had this to say about the film in his review:

Although it has plenty of atmosphere and tense moments, Silent House is ultimately lacking in every other department.

Silent House will be presented in 1080p with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. The Blu-Ray/DVD/UltraViolet Digital Copy combo pack will come with the following bonus material:

  • Commentary with Chris Kentis and Laura Lau

Silent House will be available to own on July 24th, 2012.
