Here’s What DC Has In Store For Batman This Fall

Even if you were to take the upcoming Justice League movie out of the equation, 2017 would still be a big year for Batman. After all, he recently proposed to Catwoman and has found himself smack dab in the middle of a multiversal crisis. Not surprisingly, both those topics are set to be further explored this fall, and are the focus of today's conversation.

Even if you were to take the upcoming Justice League movie out of the equation, 2017 would still be a big year for Batman. After all, he recently proposed to Catwoman and has found himself smack dab in the middle of a multiversal crisis. Not surprisingly, both those topics are set to be further explored this fall, and are the focus of today’s conversation.

First, let’s talk about what’s to come in the Dark Knight’s flagship book, Batman. As it turns out, this October will mark the finale of Tom King and Mikel Janin’s currently unfolding story arc, “The War of Jokes and Riddles,” which has been knocking our socks off thus far.

From what we can tell, issue #32 will be a must read because not only will we learn if Selina will indeed take Bruce’s hand in marriage, but also because it looks like we’ll find out the Caped Crusader’s dark secret – and if it’ll factor into her decision. Really, just how literally are we to interpret seeing our hero’s hands drenched in blood on the cover?

Two weeks later, King will begin a new arc in Batman #33, but we can’t be for certain if it’s his next epic or an interlude making up a couple issues. After all, one would expect the next big one to be illustrated by David Finch, but the official solicitation lists Joelle Jones as the contributing artist.

Finally, we’ll discuss Batman Lost, a one-shot that we learned about not long ago that’s set to tie into the events seen in Dark Nights: Metal. Interestingly enough, DC decided to include this November title with its October listings, so it’s probably a solid bet that it’s not to be missed.
