The Fantastic Four Are Returning To Marvel Comics With New Series

One thing that’s ticked off True Believers in recent years was that of the Fantastic Four being given the short end of the stick by the House of Ideas. Having been dubbed their “First Family” for good reason, pretty much the entire Marvel Universe owes their existence to that quartet of heroes.

Of course, much of this had to do with the Fantastic Four’s cinematic rights residing over at Fox, thus forcing Marvel to cut off its own nose to spite its face. In fact, even the X-Men were on the outs for a time, but some justification can be made for cancelling Fantastic Four books because they weren’t selling as well – and there was also word on the street that the publisher wanted to distance itself from the 2015 box office flop.

But now that everyone’s had almost three years to rid that taste from their mouth, Marvel decided to drop a bombshell on Twitter today, with editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski saying that a new Fantastic Four ongoing will, in fact, launch before long as part of the company’s Fresh Start initiative!

In the video above, Cebulski confirms that the all-star creative team of Dan Slott and Sara Pichelli will be tasked with handling the new series, which should please more than a few readers. As stated in the interview, Slott has an encyclopedic knowledge of all things Marvel, so locking him down should spell success.

Furthermore, it should be noted that the original Fantastic Four lineup of Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, the Human Torch and the Thing will be included, so there’s no need to fret over a repeat of Future Foundation or some sort of newbie on the team.

Right now, no concrete release date for the first issue has been given, but we’ll keep you posted as the situation unfolds in the coming months.
