Marvel Reveals New Look For Domino In Advance Of Solo Series

If you're a regular on the convention circuit, then you know which characters are favored over others when it comes to cosplay. In the case of female icons, one has often seen the likes of Harley Quinn, Black Widow, Poison Ivy, Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman in recent years. Still, there are those who remain favorites but aren't as prevalent because they haven't had much mainstream exposure, namely Domino.

But with the character making her big screen debut in a matter of months in the highly anticipated Deadpool 2, one naturally expects the size of her fanbase to exponentially inflate. Of course, Marvel is probably aware of this likelihood as well, thus granting the lucky mutant her own solo series this spring.

Set to be written by one of the greatest comic book writers of our time in Gail Simone (Batgirl, Birds of Prey), the new title will be illustrated by none other than David Baldeon (Spirits of Vengeance, Nova), who’ll be giving our dear Domino a new look.

Decidedly not a carbon copy of the style adopted by screen actress Zazie Beetz, this new design is instead quite a bit different from what we’ve come to expect, be it on screen or in comics. It’s pretty sleek, sure, but we can’t help wondering how True Believers will react to such change. Still, who knows, maybe this’ll be the next costume to take the aforementioned cosplay scene by storm?

Speaking of which, here’s what Baldeon had to say about his new endeavor:

“I am so very thrilled to be a part of Team Domino! I am a fan of Gail’s work, and I’ve been wanting to work with her for a long time now. The fact that it is with a character like Domino is the icing on the cake! She’s strong, she’s tough, she’s fun and she’s thrilling, and hopefully the art will bring through all of that. We’ve given her a new, sleek look that plays on all of her strengths, her history, and who she is as a character. Plus, this book is a completely different animal from my previous work style-wise, and therefore a chance to go into new grounds. This is going to be an exciting ride!”

Domino #1 arrives in comic shops on April 11. In the meantime, let us know what you think about her new threads in the usual place below!
