Asura’s Wrath is out now. But if you’ve already had your fill of the odd combination of quick-time events and yelling at everything in sight, Capcom has confirmed that “substantial” DLC packs are on the way.

Two different DLC packs were confirmed. The first is a crossover between Capcom‘s other most famous franchise, Street Fighter. Somehow, Asura comes into contact with Ryu. Ryu being the honorable fighter he is, he challenges the demi-god to a fight. Seems like a great excuse to put Asura in an upcoming crossover fighter.

The second DLC pack is more of an artistic offering. Additional chapters will be made available and feature much the same quick-time event-focused gameplay as the rest of the game, but the game will be in a beautifully drawn anime style instead of being rendered in 3D.

No date or pricing was mentioned, but given the look of these screenshots, I’d say they’re coming rather soon.

Screenshots and the launch press release can be seen after the break.

SAN MATEO, CA – February 21, 2012 – Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Asura’s Wrath™ is now available at retail across North America for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. Asura’s Wrath follows the story of a once revered deity, who is betrayed and banished for crimes he did not commit. With his wife murdered and his daughter taken from him, he lays in waste for 12,000 years. Utilizing his relentless rage, Asura returns to exact his vengeance on those around him and unravel their web of lies.

A collaboration between Capcom and Japanese developer CyberConnect2, Asura’s Wrath introduces a brand new style of gameplay that redefines the action genre. Fusing Asian mythology with science fiction, Asura’s Wrath delivers unprecedented levels of dynamism, drama, and interaction. Through a mix of range attacks and visceral close quarter action, players will fill Asura’s ‘Burst Gauge’ unleashing the full force of his rage and delivering devastating attacks on those who betrayed him.

Capcom will be supporting Asura’s Wrath post launch with an extensive offering of downloadable content (DLC). The first two downloadable packs will explore what happens between episodes from the full game. Both packs will offer a completely new artistic style taking their inspiration from the world of anime.

Following this will be DLC that promises Asura’s ultimate battle where the strongest take on the angriest. The world’s greatest warriors from Street Fighter®, including Ryu, appear before Asura challenging him to a fight and creating a DLC offering that fans won’t want to miss.
