Atlas And Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare Reclaim Number One Spot In UK Charts

Slowly but surely, the proverbial production line within the video game industry is beginning to ache back into motion for 2015, with notable titles like Dying Light and Evolve creeping closer to release. But for the time being, it is Sledgehammer Games' Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare that reclaimed the number one spot in the UK all-format charts for the week ending January 31.

Slowly but surely, the proverbial production line within the video game industry is beginning to ache back into motion for 2015, with notable titles like The Order: 1886 and Evolve creeping closer to release. But for the time being, it is Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare that reclaimed the number one spot in the UK all-format charts for the week ending January 31.

Much like previous weeks, it was a battle between gaming’s hottest three titles on the market — Advanced Warfare, Grand Theft Auto V and FIFA 15, to be exact — though it was Activision’s shooter that rose to the top.

Here’s this week’s comprehensive top ten in full, as provided by Chart-Track.

1. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
2. Grand Theft Auto V
3. FIFA 15
4. Saints Row IV Re-Elected/Gat Out of Hell
5. Minecraft: Xbox Edition
6. Far Cry 4
7. Call of Duty: Ghosts
8. Assassin’s Creed Unity
9. Minecraft: PlayStation Edition
10. Destiny

Without doubt, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare experienced a boon in sales thanks to the recent release of the game’s maiden expansion pack, Havoc, on Xbox platforms. Bundling together four all-new multiplayer maps along with an explosive and futuristic take on the franchise’s beloved Zombies Mode, there was a lot of anticipation for the DLC prior to release, and we’ll have our own verdict up for you to enjoy in the coming days.

As for the rest of the chart, it was largely business as usual. Saints Row IV‘s balls-to-the-wall expansion continues to sell relatively well, particularly when you consider that figures tracked but Chart-Track don’t take digital sales into account. One of the biggest anomalies, however, is that of Call of Duty: Ghosts, which also stole a place in last week’s charts thanks to an eye-catching retail promotion. It drops down two places to seventh this week.

Looking ahead to next week and there isn’t much in terms of new releases, aside from the Battlefield: Hardline open beta. Still, you can let us know whether you picked up any of the aforementioned titles over the last seven days via the comments section below.
