For the first time in Rocksteady’s acclaimed series, the story-centric DLC will have you play as Barbara Gordon’s titular alter-ego, who has set her sights on The Joker after he kidnaps her father, Commissioner Gordon. Calling Bats is out of the question too, with the crazed lunatic threatening to terminate him should he catch a glimpse of The World’s Greatest Detective.

Taking place before the events of 2009’s franchise-starter Arkham Asylum, Warner Bros. Montreal – taking over development duties from Rocksteady for the expansion – noted that the forthcoming Batgirl DLC is an ode to the original game, even featuring a cameo appearance from Robin. Batgirl: A Matter of Family is said to pack it’s fair share of content, too, with Warner confirming that the add-on will boast its own set of challenges, unlockables and even easter eggs that the Joker has scattered in and around Gotham.

Here’s the official synopsis from WB:

“When The Joker kidnaps Commissioner Gordon and holds him hostage at the Seagate Amusement Park, Batgirl and Robin must fight against the odds to save him and avoid falling victim to The Joker’s sinister plan. Trained by Batman, Batgirl’s combat combines with unparalleled hacking abilities to take down enemies, control objects and solve puzzles.”

Batgirl: A Matter of Family will make its debut for season pass holders on July 14. The remainder of the Batman: Arkham Knight audience can pick up the DLC in question as a standalone purchase on July 21 for $6.99.
