Despite rumors suggesting otherwise, Bungie have reassured fans that Destiny will continue to be updated before a sequel is released. As part of the developer’s weekly address to fans to keep them in the loop of what’s going on at Bungie HQ, Destiny‘s community manager Eric Osborne said that:

To put it bluntly, you seem worried that there won’t be any more substantial content until we ship another full game, or that all of the content for the rest of Year Two will come in the form of timed events.

Osborne quickly followed up that bleak potential reality with an inspired statement, promising that players have a lot to look forward to in 2016.

Good news, everyone!

There’s a whiteboard in one of our meeting rooms filled with scribblings and sticky notes that represent the developments planned for Destiny’s not-so-distant future. Events, activities, content, and features designed to keep you happy, entertained, and rewarded throughout the year to come: some events and some activities that will become additions to your Director.

As it stands, the update schedule for the first few months of next year include a timed event in a similar vein to The Festival Of The Lost just gone to tie in with Halloween, and then the meaty game update that Osborne says is “far larger than anything you’ve seen since the release of The Taken King” and “another significant update to the world and sandbox.”

It all sounds rather exciting doesn’t it? You’ll need to wait just a little bit longer for some solid info though, as Osborne is reluctant to reveal anything at this point.

I’d love to announce it all right now. On Twitter, even. It would do wonders for my follower count, but since the team is currently in development on those projects, it would also be irresponsible.

There’s just a few weeks left until we all celebrate the arrival of a new year (and hopefully some announcements), but in the meantime, why not check out Destiny‘s most recent content update – The Sparrow Racing League. Log in right now to fire up your engines and become champion of the track.
