If the video game industry is currently experiencing its annual summer drought, then Destiny is very much the proverbial oasis at the other end of the spectrum. Launching in September, Bungie’s sci-fi shooter has become one of the most anticipated titles of the year, and the studio has confirmed that codes for the game’s forthcoming beta can be redeemed three times.

The keys, which can be validated through the company’s official portal, will first ask players to select their region before confirming their platform of choice:

As such, players will be able to invite two of their friends to partner up in Destiny’s sprawling open-world even if they haven’t pre-ordered the game themselves. However, for those PlayStation 4 owners in Europe, Bungie has confirmed via Twitter that eager Guardians will be able to redeem their codes closer to the beta’s start date.

Speaking of which, Destiny’s public beta will begin first across Sony’s platforms on July 17th, where it will be open for a 9-day run. In terms of Xbox platforms, though, it’s understood that the phase will commence on July 23rd for a 5-day run. Either way, the bout of testing will close for all systems on the 27th.

For those who have already entered their details and selected their chosen platform, Bungie has confirmed that the actual download codes won’t be sent out through email until closer to the time. Plus, if history has taught us anything, the renowned studio is often pretty generous with access codes, so keep on eye trained on its websites and social media in the lead up to July 17th.

Destiny is poised to release across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on September 19th.
