Infinity Ward has released details regarding the first batch of downloadable content for Call of Duty: Ghosts. Entitled Onslaught, the add-on is the first of four supplementary map packs and is set to debut across Xbox One and Xbox 360 first on January 28th in keeping with Microsoft’s timed exclusivity.

Much like CoD DLC packs of old, Onslaught will introduce four all-new maps into the multiplayer component of Call of Duty: Ghosts. These new locales include: Fog, a confined and gloomy swap environment with an acute reference to Michael Myers’ Halloween; Bay, an idyllic, boardwalk town next to the sea; Containment, a relatively small map set in Mexico; and Ignition, a revamped iteration of the Scrapyard arena from Modern Warfare 2.

Layered on top of this multiplayer offering is Nightfall; the maiden, alien-based episode for the game’s Extinction mode. Infinity Ward has stated that Nightfall will establish the beginning of a four-part arc set within the cooperative mode, all the while introducing new weaponry and garish extra terrestrials to use them against for good measure.

Finally, Onslaught will also shepherd in the Maverick rifle, a malleable weapon that can be utilised as either an assault rifle or, for those long-ranged targets, a sniper rifle. Each of these DLC bundles can be purchased individually for $14.99 (approximately £9), or, for those who want to experience the collective bunch, for $49.99 which grants the season pass.

Onslaught is the first of four add-on packs for Call of Duty: Ghosts, with Devastation, Invasion and Nemesis (in reference to the in-game space station, ODIN) confirmed to drop throughout the course of 2014. Infinity Ward has since stated that the aforementioned release date of January 28th applies to Xbox One and Xbox 360 only, with other platforms receiving the content at a later, as yet announced date.

In the meantime, you can feast your eyes on the first trailer for the map pack below and be sure to leave your own thoughts of the DLC in the comments.
