Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow – Mirror Of Fate HD Now Available For XBLA

If you're anything like me, you have yet to pick up a Nintendo 3DS because the thought of a 3D handheld makes you laugh until milk you never even drank comes pouring out of your nose. The consequences of that decision mean missing a small handful of games that actually look promising, one of which happens to be Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate, a handheld-only sequel to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

If you’re anything like me, you have yet to pick up a Nintendo 3DS because the thought of a 3D handheld makes you laugh until milk you never even drank comes pouring out of your nose. The consequences of that decision mean missing a small handful of games that actually look promising, one of which happens to be Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate, a handheld-only sequel to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

Those of us stubborn enough to keep resisting Nintendo’s brash advances can rejoice in a small victory, as Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD has been released on the XBLA.

Serving as a bridge between the first Lords of Shadow and the upcoming sequel, Mirror of Fate HD will also give players exclusive access to a playable demo for Lords of Shadow 2, along with online leaderboards and a new “Boss Rush Mode.” The story should already be familiar to longtime fans of the series, but if you’re looking to get the full effect of the Lords of Shadow plotline, then Mirror of Fate is a must-play.

Players take control of Simon and Trevor Belmont, descendents of Gabriel, who are tasked with finding Dracula and ending him, leading to a hopefully epic battle between generations of the same family. The ending of Lords of Shadow was fittingly spectacular, and the sequel is shaping up to carry the epic torch, so hopefully Mirror of Fate is a worthy stepping stone between the two entries.

Whether you’re a fan of the series as a whole or Lords of Shadow was your introduction, be sure to pick up Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD on XBLA for $14.99.
