Conan Exiles Set To Be A Survival & Crafting Based Game

In spite of its fairly boisterous and aggressive announcement trailer, some fairly tame and unexpected details have emerged about Conan Exiles. The announcement trailer – as included above – opens on the gruesome scene of blood splattering on the tops of discarded skulls, before taking a turn for the inadvertently humorous as its next shots bring back memories of the “always look on the bright-side” scene from Monty Python’s Life Of Brian. Fortunately, the titular hero turns up to provide a gravelly voice-over fairly quickly, and Conan paints the picture of a typically desolate existence for players in this game.

But while you’d be forgiven for expecting a hack ‘n’ slash bloodbath, the ensuing description for Conan Exiles suggests something far more tame. The video’s blurb reads as follows:

You are an exile, one of thousands cast out to fend for themselves in a barbaric wasteland swept by terrible sandstorms and besieged on every side by enemies. Here you must fight to survive, build and dominate.

This impression, along with the confirmation that Conan Exiles will be a survival game with crafting elements confirms we may be in for somewhat of a Minecraft-y experience when the title releases later this year.

Either way, Conan Exiles is due for Steam Early Access sometime this Summer.
