Darkstalkers Resurrection will be seeing its official release on March 12 for PSN and March 13 on XBLA. Unfortunately, European PlayStation gamers will be forced to wait the same time as XBLA players.

Resurrection brings Darkstalkers 3 and Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge into one convenient package. While it’s nice to know that fans have something to look forward to very soon, it’s a shame that Capcom did not green-light a fourth installment. With the company producer, Yoshinori Ono, already proclaiming his desire for Darkstalkers 4, it will be interesting to see how Resurrection sells and what it means for future installments.

Players who pick up the game pack will be treated to online matchmaking that comes from Iron Galaxy Studios. With prior experience developing Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition and Marvel vs. Capcom Origins, Iron Galaxy is in a great place to provide a great online fighting experience. The team is making use of GGPO netcoding in order to provide matchmaking and lag free marathon sessions.

In-game challenges will also provide players with points that can be unlocked via the game’s “Vault” system that unlocks custom artwork, concept art, videos, and more. All of these features are complimented with an HD filter option that should help to make the decade of aging seem less horrifying.

Another important addition to Resurrection is the inclusion of an online tournament mode that is supported by a YouTube replay option. This will allow the serious fighting champion to upload their skills instantly to YouTube and share their talent with the world.

Darkstalkers Resurrection will set you back $14.99/£11.99/€14.99 on PSN, and 1200 MP on XBLA. Will you be picking the fighter up? I know I will be, and hopefully I can help create the spark that rekindles the Darkstalkers flame.
