Dead Rising 4 Is Coming To Steam Next Month

Comical survival 'horror' title Dead Rising 4 arrives on Steam next month, March 14, Capcom has announced. Released for Xbox One and Windows 10 last year, the sequel's release on Valve's service marks the first time Dead Rising 4 has made the jump from a Microsoft-owned platform to another, so if you've so far resisted the urge to batter an endless zombie horde to death with outlandish weaponry, now you can do so without buying it for either aforementioned platform. Do note, however, that purchasing the game on Steam will exclude you from taking advantage of Microsoft's Xbox Play Anywhere program.

Set 16 years after the original, Dead Rising 4 sees the return of photojournalist Frank West to the Willamette Mall, which has once again been besieged by the undead. Thanks to the convenient setting and a wild imagination, though, Frank has a near-endless supply of tools at his disposal to carve a bloody path through the decaying masses, a sample of which you can see here.

Despite it enjoying a seemingly successful launch and equally positive reviews, it emerged by way of a recent investor Q&A that the follow-up to Dead Rising 3 didn’t manage to capture as big an audience as Capcom had perhaps hoped, with the developer aiming to push sales with additional DLC and other updates. How substantial these updates will be isn’t clear, but the most recent free content update marked the introduction of several Street Fighter-themed costumes for Frank to dress up in.

Dead Rising 4 is available to pre-order now on Steam, and if you fancy it, Capcom’s currently running a 20 percent discount promotion, which includes a special Exo Suit weapon. Find our review of the Xbox One release here.
