Since Dead Rising 4 was not labeled as an “Xbox One and Windows 10 Exclusive,” some speculated as to whether or not the game would also be released for the PS4. Earlier today, a representative of Capcom Vancouver put those questions to rest and confirmed that both consoles would receive versions of the game. Unfortunately, Sony fans will have to wait an additional year before they too can tear through the zombie horde.

While Capcom Vancouver is developing the title, Microsoft is publishing it, so Xbox One exclusivity makes sense. They’ve used this strategy before, most notably with 2015’s Rise of the Tomb Raider. Lara Croft’s latest adventure was very well regarded, and PS4 owners are still anxiously waiting for their turn to play.

Timed releases can certainly be frustrating for those who only own one console, but there are definitely some advantages to waiting it out. Once reviews and extended gameplay clips are distributed online, gamers can make a more educated purchasing decision and avoid a painfully wasted $60. Best of all, PS4 players can at least take some solace in the knowledge that when they finally do get to play Dead Rising 4, it will at least have been patched, streamlined and be mostly, bug free.
