6 Small But Important Changes We’d Like To See In Destiny 2

Word on the street - or, in more modern terms, internet - in case you hadn't heard, is that Bungie's knocked it out of the park with Destiny 2. I'd be lying, of course, if I said I had not a single concern about the long-awaited sequel leading up to launch, especially given the rocky start that the original had, but it's for those same reasons that keeping a tight leash on expectations is always a good precautionary measure to take. You know, just in case everything goes tits up.

5) Eliminate Repeated Strikes

Destiny 2 is currently suffering from one of the same problems its predecessor faced three years ago. As mid-core content – i.e. an activity that bridges the gap between a freshly level-capped Guardian and endgame challenges such as the Nightfall or raids – Strikes are designed to be played not once, twice or even a handful of times, but repeatedly, until they’ve yielded enough powerful loot so that you can graduate onto more difficult encounters.

That’s a sound, successful model that works – no arguments there. The issue is variety. It’s likely not as pronounced for those enjoying the delights of Destiny 2 on Sony’s console, due to the additional Strike that’s included with the PlayStation 4 version, but even with that added boost, the pool of currently available Strikes on both platforms is lacking, to say the least. As was the case with Destiny, Bungie will no doubt remedy that fault with post-launch DLC, but there’s a minor adjustment it could make much sooner which would go a long way in staving off the repetitiveness.

As is the case now, there’s no guarantee, once you complete a Strike, that you’re not immediately thrown straight back into the same one a second time, meaning there’s a very real chance of you getting stuck in an infinite loop of doing Exodus Black or The Arms Dealer on repeat. Why not make it so the same Strike can’t be queued into back to back, at least in a pre-made Fireteam, where team members remain the same for each session.

If that’s not feasible, then let us select them individually from the Director.
