Digitally Distributed Vita Games Will Be Cheaper Than Retail Copies

Purchasing a large memory card for your PlayStation Vita could end up saving you money in the long run, even though the up front charge is pricey. Why, you ask? Well, just like it's doing in Japan, Sony will be offering price discounts on digital downloads of full games in North America. That option won't be easy to pass up, considering the cost of transportation to and from a store, on top of list price purchases.

Purchasing a large memory card for your PlayStation Vita could end up saving you money in the long run, even though the up front charge is pricey. Why, you ask? Well, just like it’s doing in Japan, Sony will be offering price discounts on digital downloads of full games in North America. That option won’t be easy to pass up, considering the cost of transportation to and from a store, on top of list price purchases.

A NeoGAF forum thread has compared some of Best Buy’s listing prices for the handheld’s launch titles, coming up with what they feel will be a 10% (average) price reduction on digital downloads. Since that specific retailer will be selling redeemable PSN codes as well as retail cartridges, that comparison has the potential to be accurate.
