After being announced back in March, the Xbox LIVE Arcade port of the arcade classic Dragon’s Lair has now received a firm release date of May 18. Originally released in 1983, the game made use of laser disc technology to incorporate high-quality animated footage from veteran animator Don Bluth. Its gameplay was based around pressing buttons at the correct time.

New features for the Xbox 360 version of Dragon’s Lair will include gameplay support for Microsoft‘s Kinect hardware, as well as a “full watch” mode that will enable players to simply watch the game’s footage play out automatically.

It will also be notable as the first Xbox LIVE Arcade game to support both traditional controllers and the Kinect.
