D3Publisher announced today that Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable will be released in North America for the PlayStation Vita.
The exact announcement on the publisher’s Facebook page and Twitter account reads:
“Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable Coming to North America for PlayStation Vita! EDF! EDF! EDF!”
Outside of the brief statement – and the above picture – nothing else has been confirmed, including a potential release window.
Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable is a port of the 2007 Xbox 360 game of the same name (minus the “Portable”), and was recently released for the Vita in Japan under the title Earth Defense Force 3 Portable.
For non-Vita owning EDF fans, this news should be seen as a positive sign that the recently announced Earth Defense Force 4 will see a Western release on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
