Additional details for the recently announced sequel, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, have been revealed.

Keeping with classic Disney tradition, the game will have elements of a musical in it. An intro cutscene shown to the press featured the old-school villain, the Mad Doctor, requesting the help of both Mickey Mouse and his new ally, Oswald the Rabbit, through song. Those who have played Epic Mickey will remember that Oswald was a side character in its campaign. This time around, he will act as a full-fledged ally, allowing for drop-in/drop-out co-op or AI control.

Similar to the first game, Mickey’s main weapon – a paintbrush – will be able to shoot both paint and paint thinner, incorporating the same good/bad morality scale. As all three home consoles will be getting a version of the game this time, instead of only the Wii, PlayStation Move will be supported in the PS3 version to replicate the Wii Remote’s mechanic of aiming a cursor for Mickey’s brush.

Finally, a debut teaser trailer for the game has also been released, showcasing some of the new abilities that Oswald will bring to the game.

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is scheduled for release later this year. It’s currently in-development at Junction Point Studios and will be published by Disney Interactive Studios.

We will bring you more news on the game when it surfaces.
