Should We Be Expecting A Pokemon Z Announcement Fairly Soon?

Are Nintendo and Game Freak gearing up to announce a Pokemon Z version to complement 2013's X and Y? Are Nintendo and Game Freak gearing up to announce a Pokemon Z version to complement 2013’s X and Y? It’s certainly looking like that’s the case after leaked images from Japan’s CoroCoro magazine have revealed new alternate forms for Zygarde – the third legendary Pokemon present in the X and Y versions of the 3DS titles.

The pages, according to the translation, state that Zygarde has five forms: Core, Cell, 10%, 50% and Perfect Formes, one of which being a Mega Evolution. The snake-like version of the Pocket Monster currently obtainable in versions X and Y is also counted among one of the five forms.

As has become customary ever since the series’ inception, Game Freak have a habit of releasing a third entry in each ‘Generation’ of Pokemon games that usually come with refinements, new features and content to justify a re-release.

We’ve been waiting for the announcement of a new Pokemon generation ever since the release of X and Y (Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire don’t count), so a Z version could be a great stop-gap until such a time that the developer are ready to announce a new series.

There’s been no formal confirmation Pokemon Z yet, but with the Tokyo Games Show coming up at the end of the week, it could become official sooner than you think.
