Explosive First Gameplay For Injustice 2’s Starfire Released

There's no love lost between Starfire and Robin by the events of Injustice 2, it seems. The former, who finally received her gameplay debut at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend, doesn't waste any time in voicing her disdain for the current Boy Wonder (Damian Wayne), who she blames for the death of Dick Grayson, a former Robin and, later, Nightwing.

Considering their history as both teammates and close friends, it comes as no surprise that Princess Koriand’r, or Starfire, as she’s more widely known, wastes no time in greeting the Dark Knight‘s offspring with a fist to the face. Wayne. Jr may have learned all the tricks of the trade from the League of Assassins whilst growing up, but no amount of intense combat training is going to help him against an angry, vengeful alien.

Indeed, Batman’s faithful sidekick is used as nothing more than a punching bag in the trailer, which, while bad for Robin, is great for those of us who have been waiting patiently to see what the Tamaranian brings to the table for Injustice 2‘s existing roster. Red Hood and Sub-Zero have already proven to be great additions to the beat ’em up, but Starfire, by her very nature, looks considerably more flashy than either of those two.

In fact, there doesn’t appear to be anything she can’t do. By themselves, Starfire’s lightning fast combos, gap closers, Ultraviolet energy projectiles and Starbolt shenanigans already appear terrifying, but strung together in combos, she looks nigh unstoppable.

Of course, final judgment should be reserved until Starfire arrives in-game, a date for which NetherRealm has yet to provide, although August appears to be the generally agreed upon window. Until then, stick a pair of sunglasses on and enjoy the spectacular light show put on by the extraterrestrial in the video above.
