The footage itself made its grand debut via the studio’s official Twitch channel – 11am PT/2pm ET earlier, to be specific – where fans of The Last of Us creator were treated to a sizzle reel that proved to be an action masterclass. While Naughty Dog remained mum about the finer details, such as where in the story this set-piece takes place, the clip largely speaks for itself.

Soon after careering through the bamboo barricade from the end of the E3 demo, Nathan Drake is dragged through the mud – literally. Pursued by a group of bandits, this particular segment of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End sees Nat and his brother Sam (Troy Baker) up against it, using every method in their collective arsenal to engineer a means of escape. Across the five minutes or so, our weathered protagonist is seen punching, shooting and delivering fleeting quips in a manner only Nathan Drake could.

Beyond that, though, there is ample evidence that underlines Naughty Dog’s evolution. For example, one scene in particular sees Drake trapped beneath an overturned humvee. Lost for words and with no means of escape, his situation only gets worse when a fire sparks into life, leading to a last-ditch firefight that bears semblance to when Joel was left hanging upside down in The Last of Us.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will launch exclusively for PlayStation 4 in the early stages of 2016. To go up close and personal with Nathan Drake’s journey ahead of time, you can check out screenshots from the demo down below.
