Far Cry 4 Development Evidence Piles Up

Far Cry 3 pretty much rocked the industry and showcased that the series had the potential to stand head and shoulders with some of the greatest RPGs around. What was expected to be an average December 2012 release ended up garnering heaps of praise and even stole some Game of the Year awards from The Walking Dead.

Naturally, we’ve been waiting impatiently for Ubisoft to publicly reveal what’s in store for the franchise and so far, all we’ve had are some snippets of leaked information. The most notable bit of news was this past October when Cliff Martinez (composer for the hit 2011 film Drive) stated that he was “working on a video game called Far Cry 4.”

Today, however, we have even more confirmation that a fourth Far Cry is in development as the LinkedIn profile of Xavier Plagnal listed himself as a Content Director on the game. The mention of Far cry 4 was promptly removed, but also documented was that he had been working on the project since September of 2013. With that in mind, it’s very possible that Far Cry 4 could be finished in time to launch during the holiday 2014 season, presumably for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

No other details are known at this time, but it’s almost certain that Far Cry 4 is in development. It’ll be very interesting to see if the plot will bare any connection to its phenomenal predecessor, which boasted an incredibly enigmatic and disturbing villain named Vaas. Some gamers have vocally expressed that Far Cry 4 should feature him as a playable character in a prequel, showcasing his descent into insanity and madness. While that would certainly be cool, I’m sure that whatever Ubisoft has in mind is going to impress us, regardless of narrative details.
