Fans of the photography-based survival horror series, Fatal Frame, will be happy to hear that its latest entry is heading west. We’re not sure of exactly when, but Nintendo says “later this year.”

Although there’s not a lot to go on with this announcement, the fact that the press release we received refers to the title as “the latest game in the creepy Fatal Frame series” makes us think that it will be a port of the one that was to have been released in Japan late last year. That is, Zero: Nuregarasu no Miku, which roughly translates to Fatal Frame: The Raven-Haired Shrine Maiden.

If we’re right, we’ll be in charge of controlling Yuuri Kozukata, the titular shrine maiden who has the unique ability to see the deceased. Well, their souls to be exact, such as those who’ve been taken to the ‘spirit plane.’ She’s able to document them via her trusty camera, and can even help bring them back to the world of the living somehow. What’s noteworthy is that this will all be done using the GamePad, which should make for an interesting take on the series’ popular gameplay mechanics.

Stay tuned for more information pertaining to this newly-announced Fatal Frame release as we’ll keep you posted once we have more.
