The latest Final Fantasy XV trailer is here, but there’s no combat or gameplay montage to be seen in this latest footage – it’s all about story. Released today during Square Enix’s presence at the Tokyo Game Show, we’re introduced to various new characters that protagonist Noctis and his companions will be encountering on their journey, but if you’re intending to go into the game blind on release date, you’ll probably want to stop reading here – quite a few new plot details have been revealed.

While the events that occur immediately prior to Noctis’ departure from his home kingdom of Lucis remain unclear, it’s indirectly hinted that the prince was removed by its monarch (his father), for fear of an invasion by the rapidly-spreading Niflheim empire.

As part of his quest to retake his homeland, Noctis will encounter various different characters with varying agendas, some of which are introduced in the trailer. Ardyn Izunia, a so-called “sinister stranger,” as well as Cid Sophiar and Ravus Nox Fleuret are just some of the newly-introduced members of the cast, but they don’t look particularly friendly.

Spliced in-between all of this revelatory chin-wagging is a few snippets of gameplay featuring Final Fantasy XV‘s summons, gargantuan beasts that Noctis will have the power to call upon to help him in battle.

Ramuh, Leviathan and Titan; while we’ve seen them all make appearances in previous trailers, a potential fourth is given a few seconds of screen time at the video’s conclusion. Take a look for yourself and tell us what you think, but that pale blue sprite looks a lot like Shiva.

Final Fantasy XV launches November 29 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
