Sony posted this week’s PlayStation Plus Update today, revealing that subscribers of the premium service will be able to download Foosball 2012 for free on both the PS3 and PS Vita as part of the Instant Game Collection.

As you might have suspected from the title, Foosball 2012 is a video game version of Foosball that was released to the sound of critics saying “meh” last year. The title features both single and multiplayer modes, along with PlayStation Move support and cross-compatibility (including cross-play and game saves) between the two systems.

Considering that it takes at least a couple of drinks to elevate actual Foosball to the level of “marginally entertaining” for the majority of the population, there is a good chance that you are not exactly thrilled by the news that Foosball 2012 is this week’s free PlayStation Plus game. To help offset the disappointment that you are likely feeling in your heart at this very moment, Sony also announced that tomorrow will kick off their “13 for ’13 Sale” on the PlayStation Store.

This new sale will knock 50% off thirteen different titles for everyone in PSN-land, and give PlayStation Plus subscribers a whopping 75% off all the featured games. While it is certainly debatable if the thirteen games listed represent “some of the best games available on PSN” (as Sony claims) there are more than a handful of titles that will be hard to pass up at these prices.

Personally I would recommend grabbing The Unfinished Swan (which is a steal at $7.49, $3.75 Plus), Warp ($4.99, $2.50 Plus), and it’s hard not to consider grabbing LittleBigPlanet Karting for a cool $10.00 if you are a PlayStation Plus member. Also, if you have never played Psychonauts (and by the way, shame on you) make sure to grab the PS2 Classics version during the sale ($4.99, $2.50 Plus).

Check out the full list of “13 for ’13 Sale” games below, and make sure to hit up the comments to let us know which ones you are picking up with your PlayStation Plus discount.
