Sad news for followers of gaming journalism today. Ryan Davis, contributor and co-founder of the popular site Giant Bomb, has been confirmed to have passed away from unspecified causes on July 3rd. He was 34 years old.

Davis originally helped fellow writer Jeff Gerstmann found the site in early 2008, and had stayed there since its inception. The site offers such features as “Quick Looks”, in which Davis, Gerstmann, or several other employees play brief portions of new releases, as well as the popular Giant Bombcast podcast, which regularly releases new episodes each Tuesday.

As a fan of Giant Bomb since its creation, this is immensely heartbreaking news. The site would not be what it is today without the involvement of Ryan Davis, and he was responsible for many a funny moment in both their podcasts and videos. Things will not be the same without him, and we wish all of his friends and family our deepest condolences.
