In keeping with Polyphony Digital’s promised Holiday 2013 release window, Sony Europe CEO Jim Ryan announced today during Sony’s Gamescom press conference that Gran Turismo 6 will launch on December 6, 2013 for the PlayStation 3.

The platform holder also revealed a unique partnership with several automotive manufacturers, where design teams from Alfa Romeo, Alpine, Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Bertone, GM Design, Honda, Infiniti, Italdesign Giugiaro, JORDAN Brand, Mercedes-Benz, Nike, Nissan, Peugeot, SRT(Chrysler), Volkswagen and Zagato will create “concept models” that will be recreated as working cars for Gran Turismo 6. Throughout 2014 these cars will then be released as “gifted downloadable content” to GT6 owners via online updates.

Sony also fully detailed all of Gran Turismo 6‘s pre-order bonuses. The standard 4-Car pre-order pack that was originally announced last June has been upgraded to a 5-Car pack — with the addition of an SRT Viper GTS. On top of that, each of the cars in the pre-order bonus pack (GT-R NISMO GT3, Model S Signature Performance, Corvette Stingray, R8 LMS ultra, and Viper GTS) has been given a special 15th Anniversary custom visual and performance enhancement.

Finally, Sony revealed two retailer specific pre-order bonuses that Gran Turismo fans can take advantage of:

  • Amazon; $1 million in-game credit bonus in addition to the 5-Car 15th Anniversary pack
  • GameStop; 25 cars with custom GT 15th Anniversary upgrades, 15th Anniversary Race Suit, 15th Anniversary Helmet, 15th Anniversary PSN Avatar, and Customized Paint Chips
