Rockstar Games has released the first trailer for their upcoming game, Max Payne 3, which sees the return of everyone’s favorite former New York City detective.

Having left the NYPD and the city behind, Max tries to start a new life, but he soon finds himself betrayed. Worsening things is the fact that, in his new far-away home, there is no one he can rely on for help. Trapped in a foreign city, Max uses his guns and his brains to find the truth behind his troubles and a way out of his worsening situation. A solution which hopefully doesn’t involve him dying.

The new trailer shows Max in another one of the largest cities in the world, Sao Paulo, Brazil. His new role pertains to serving as a body guard for “the type of people that need protection”. As usual though, things don’t seem to go Max’s way and he is once again caught up in a situation filled with gun battles and violence.

I enjoyed playing the previous Max Payne titles and it feels like it was a long time coming for Max’s return. In a way, I’m sure that there are a lot of fans out there expecting big things from Rockstar as they continue Max’s journey. The trailer definitely looks good and from what it describes of the story, things are really going to be picking up for Max, who looks a little crazy sporting a shaved head.

Max Payne 3 is scheduled to shoot up the XBOX 360, PS3 and PC in March of 2012.
