Not to be outdone by Sony revealing next month’s PlayStation Plus lineup, Xbox Director of Programming and all-round spokesperson Major Nelson (AKA Larry Hryb) has confirmed the software making its way to Xbox Games With Gold for the month of February.

As always, said titles will be available to download free of charge for those in possession of an Xbox Live Gold Membership, with Hand of Fate and Southend Interactive’s Sacred Citadel kicking things off across Xbox One and Xbox 360 respectively come February 1.

Indeed, Defiant Development’s acclaimed RPG card game will be a fixture of the Games With Gold roster for the entire month of February on Xbox One, with Styx: Master Of Shadows joining Hand of Fate on February 16. As for Xbox 360, the aforementioned side-scroller Sacred Citadel will feature for the first two weeks, before it’s replaced by Gears of War 2 on February 16.

Keen to trumpet the console’s backwards compatibility, Nelson noted that all four titles included in February’s Games With Gold can be played via Xbox One, though considering that The Coalition recently launched Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, it’s difficult to muster much excitement for Gears of War 2 being included in next month’s roster. Nevertheless, considering that it’s normally priced at $19.99, we aren’t one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Xbox Games With Gold will begin rolling out its ware come Monday, February 1 with Hand of Fate and Sacred Citadel across Xbox One and Xbox 360, respectively.
