Up until this point, many had assumed that the studio’s space-faring adventure would launch first on Sony’s platform as a timed-exclusive, but Murray revealed that this simply isn’t the case. Rather, No Man’s Sky is console exclusive to PS4, but the fact that there is still no release date for the pastel-colored adventure is notable in and of itself.

Murry did go on to say that Hello Games had planned to finally lock down a due date for the hotly-anticipated title during E3, though decided against it at the last minute due to reasons not disclosed. Given that the studio’s indie darling first wowed the industry back in December of 2013, it’s fair to say that No Man’s Sky is risking oversaturation. Yes, there’s an unfathomably large universe to explore, but until we know for sure when we can dive in, we’ll remain cautious. Optimistic of course, but in this industry the two feelings almost go hand in hand.

Tell us, are you surprised to see that No Man’s Sky will release for PlayStation 4 and PC simultaneously given Sony’s emphasis on the indie game? Let us know using the comments section below. W
