Team Ninja has never been subtle when it comes to the female combatants included in their popular Dead or Alive franchise. The female fighters included tend to be young and full-figured, if you get my drift, and the latest entry in the series, Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, introduces a new character who fits that description to a tee.
Described as a “super secret fighter chick” by Tecmo Koei, Honoka is an 18-year old schoolgirl. While her appearance may not startle anyone, she has a mysterious power running through her body that grants her strength. The publisher offered further details on her in an introductory press release:
Honoka has a strange knack for instantly learning any fighting move she sees. She has kept this power hush-hush, but has been itching to test it out in secret. Honoka studies her favorite moves from various sources and fighting styles, and combines them into a unique style which she calls “Honoka Fu”. Since her build is that of an average teenage girl, her moves, while skilled, may not always pack the same punch as the fighter she learned them from. In her Hissatsu-no-Kamae stance, however, she is imbued with an unbelievable strength and becomes capable of techniques she has never seen from any other fighter.
Let’s be honest here, after 15 years, six main entries and a handful of spinoffs, you know what you’re gonna get from the franchise. Fast-paced combat, multi-tiered levels and busty female fighters. Dead or Alive 5: Last Round continues that trend, and if you weren’t a fan of the series beforehand, this entry is not going to change your mind.
Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is set to launch on February 17th for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
