Industry Analyst Expects The Nintendo NX To Be Unveiled As Early As March

Still anxiously waiting for Nintendo to lift the curtain on the Nintendo NX console? Well, you may not have much longer to wait, according to certain industry analysts.

The report in question, published by Japanese firm Nomura Securities, provided some (presumably) educated guesses as to when the Big N will both reveal and release the successor to the Wii U.

You’d think the release of new hardware would be good news for any company, but the report starts with a rather bleak prediction that the NX’s release will have a negative impact on Wii U and 3DS sales when it hits store shelves.

In regards to the dates, the firm states that:

We think the NX will start to boost operating profits in 18/3, when it will have been on the market for a full year and will have a line-up of software titles, which carry high operating margins.

We still expect the NX to launch in 17/3. We have lowered our estimates for current consoles to reflect the present situation, fiercer competition, and what has happened in the past when new hardware is announced.

The dates may seem questionable, considering how little Nintendo have revealed so far, so taking them with a pinch of salt is probably best right now, but who knows? They could be completely correct.

Either way, most sources seem to agree that the Nintendo NX will indeed be releasing around the Holiday 2016 season. Onwards towards March, eh?
