Injustice 2 Could Get Watchmen Characters In Future DLC

At long last, Injustice 2 is in the hands of those it was meant for, with fans the world over no doubt already taking the fight to Brainiac under the banner of Superman, Batman or even Gorilla Grodd's villainous Society. Indeed, there's already plenty of DC icons packed tightly into Injustice 2's eclectic roster, but that hasn't stopped some from asking the million dollar question of what's, or, more specifically, who's next?

Thanks to the trailer released earlier this month, we already know that Starfire, Red Hood and Mortal Kombat‘s own Sub-Zero will be the first three fighters join the DC brawler’s cast as DLC, but what lies beyond that? Given that the first add-on pack is numbered (and that NetherRealm’s Mortal Kombat X received a series of character expansions), it’s a given that even more heroes and villains will eventually make their way to Injustice 2, we just don’t know who they’ll be.

As per recent comments made by the game’s creative director Ed Boon to Game Rant, however, it could be the case that one such post-launch character will hail from DC’s Watchmen. When asked how likely the inclusion of such characters would be, Boon said:

It’s not outside the realm of possibility at all. Unfortunately, there are still so many cool characters that we haven’t done that we’ll be getting a few of them done with DLC which will be cool. But inevitably someone is going to not make the cut.

Despite the rather bleak implication of that statement, when asked directly if that meant Watchmen character Rorschach had no chance of appearing, Boon simply responded with “I’m not ready to say that yet,” so who knows what’s going on behind closed doors at NetherRealm HQ? At this point, it’s simply too early to tell, but it’s worth nothing that Boon held a poll on Twitter last year in an effort to gauge interest in Watchmen characters for Injustice 2, the results of which more than speak for themselves.

What’s your take on all this? Would confirmation of Watchmen characters for Injustice 2 make you weak at the knees, or are there other DC characters you’d rather see first? Let us know in the comments below!
