This week’s round of Battle Arena match-ups has officially confirmed Sinestro and Hawk Girl as playable characters in NetherRealm studios’ upcoming, Injustice: Gods Among Us.

DC fans will be excited to get their first glimpse at Sinestro as he faces off against the Man of Steel, and Hawk Girl, as she aims to slam Green Arrow back into his place. While the glimpses of the newly confirmed characters are brief, NetherRealm continues to show us that they understand the characters. Sinestro’s attacks are inspired by his quest of spreading fear across the universe, while Hawk Girl’s movements are swift and deadly.

While these two character reveals are certainly good news, it seems bittersweet once you realize that this could be the end of the additions to the game’s character roster. This week is the last round of battles before the tournament moves into the quarter finals, as such it seems to eliminate the possibility of new contenders stepping into the arena.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that fans shouldn’t expect to find a few hidden characters in the final game though. With any luck, NetherRealm will be inspired by Mortal Kombat and implement numerous secrets for dedicated fighting fans to uncover.

Be sure to check back this Friday for the winners to be announced, alongside two brand new gameplay videos that will reveal more information on the victors’ fighting styles.  If you want to make sure your voice is heard go cast your vote on the official Injustice site, and then be sure to tell us your thoughts on this week’s match-ups.

Will Hawk Girl and Sinestro be seeing expanded gameplay videos this Friday, and are they really the last characters for the Injustice: Gods Among Us roster?
