We have some good news and some bad news for fans of Agent 47 and the Hitman franchise. The good news is that IO Interactive has released the first piece of concept art for the next entry in the series. The bad news is that parent company Square Enix confirmed that the title will not be making an appearance at E3 this year.

The accompanying post on the franchise’s official website reveals some additional details about the image above. For this particular mission, Agent 47 finds himself in Central Europe and will be able to explore the entirety of the building seen in the photo, which is apparently larger than any location found in Hitman: Absolution.

As for the news regarding the title missing E3 this year, while it’s nice to know ahead of time that it won’t make an appearance, this still has to be a major blow to fans. We’ve known that another entry in the Hitman franchise was on the way since the beginning of 2014, and I imagine most people were figuring that we would find out more on the title as part of Square Enix’s E3 showing. Unfortunately, IO Interactive has not announced when they will be ready to release more information, other than a vague “once we feel we’re ready to.”

Tell us, are you disappointed that Agent 47 and the Hitman franchise won’t be traveling to E3 this year? Sound off below!
