Irrational Details All There Is To Know About BioShock Infinite On PC

Knowing that past BioShock PC ports left a lot to be desired, Irrational Games’ technical director Chris Kline took to the studio’s blog today to reassure fans that they are going all out for the upcoming PC release of BioShock Infinite. Far from simply revealing the game’s minimum specifications, the blog post also detailed every feature that you could ever want to know about but was afraid to ask.

In the control department, BioShock Infinite will obviously support the superior keyboard and mouse setup and allow for full customization over all the default action bindings and mice settings. However, if you are one of those sickos who prefers dual analog sticks for shooters, Irrational also has you covered with three different controller layouts and an endless amount of customization options.

The studio also revealed that Infinite will support DX11 (although you are okay if you only have DX10-compatible hardware) which will give you access to “contact-hardening dynamic shadows, diffusion depth of field, high definition ambient occlusion and optimized antialiasing.” There are six graphic presets ranging from “Very Low” to “Ultra” and settings to tweak everything from anti-aliasing to dynamic shadows and everything in between. The post also revealed that the game ships with “unadulterated, full-resolution textures right out of the box”, although that particular feature involves a not-so-fantastic three-DVD install.

Even though the game supports the ultra high-end PC gaming rigs, Irrational made it clear that BioShock Infinite easily scales up and down and will run just fine on “less power setups with integrated graphics”.

Finally, BioShock Infinite will release on Steam and therefore support both Steam Cloud and Big Picture Mode. This way you can kick back on your sofa and play the game console-style on your oversized HD TV.

BioShock Infinite is scheduled to launch on February 26, 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Check out the minimum and recommended specs below to see what you will need to get the most out of the PC version.
