Stepping into the shoes of Thora, a deceased warrior, Jotun has players exploring the world of Norse mythology. Following an inglorious death, the honor-seeking warrior must prove her worth to the Gods if she wants to enter Valhalla. In order to so, though, Thora must face off with five jotuns, or Norse elementals, across nine levels.

The Valhalla Edition is not much different from the original version. In terms of new content, the re-release will only really have Valhalla Mode, which is a replayable boss rush mode with tougher versions of the five giants. Considering how well received the PC outing was though, it’s not too surprising that Thunder Lotus Games isn’t changing things up for the new ports.

I remember seeing clips of Jotun back when it first launched, and being intrigued by it. The hand-drawn graphics are gorgeous, and the unique imagery of Norse mythology lends itself well to gaming. What really interests me, though, are the boss battles. The sheer size of these Norse elementals, especially in comparison to Thora, is staggering.
