The PS3-exclusive compilation, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, is getting ever closer to its North American release date of December 3, and to keep the hype train going, Square Enix has released a new trailer that will be nostalgic to longtime fans and intriguing to newcomers.

For those who are unaware, ReMIX will contain the classic PS2 title Kingdom Hearts II, the formerly PSP-exclusive prequel Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, and a redone compilation of cutscenes from the DS entry, Kingdom Hearts: Re:coded.

The lengthy preview actually spends its first 2 minutes recapping the three earlier entries that were part of last year’s 1.5 ReMIX, so those curious about the series might want to skip ahead a bit to avoid some potential surprises. Afterwards comes a nice look at how this latest collection’s titles will appear in high-def widescreen. Anybody who grew up on some of Disney’s biggest films will also get a kick out of seeing the likes of characters from Mulan, The Lion King, and Tron, among many others.

Kingdom Hearts II serves as the direct follow-up to all three titles contained in last years’ collection, while Birth by Sleep is a prequel that helps explain the backstory behind numerous characters and events, and Re:Coded helps set the stage for future entries like the 2012 3DS game and the upcoming Kingdom Hearts III.

We will continue to keep you updated on more news regarding the Kingdom Hearts franchise as it is announced, but for now, check out the trailer above and leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
