Nintendo of America revealed today that Kirby and the Rainbow Curse will launch on the Wii U in North America on February 13, 2015. The news was confirmed via the Official Nintendo Wii U Facebook page.

Revealed back at E3 2014, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse serves a follow-up to the critically acclaimed Kirby: Canvas Curse, which hit the Nintendo DS in 2005. HAL  Laboratory, the studio that has worked on several other entries in the franchise, will be handling development duties for the title.

In Rainbow Curse, players will use the Wii U GamePad in order draw rainbow colored lines that guide Kirby across each level. During each level, Kirby will have the opportunity to transform into a variety of different forms, such as a submarine and a tank. The title will feature four-player co-op and will also support Amiibo.

While I don’t own a Wii U yet, if I did, I would be quite excited about Kirby’s latest adventure. Canvas Curse was one of my favorite handheld games of the past decade, and if HAL Laboratory can improve on that basic formula, Rainbow Curse should be a winner.

We will continue to have coverage of Kirby and the Rainbow Curse over the next few months, so stay tuned!
