Fresh off addressing rumors that the studio’s forthcoming sequel won’t include multiplayer in the traditional sense, Crystal has peeled back the curtain on the latest – and, so far, greatest – trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider, charting Lara Croft’s journey to becoming legend. Rather than focus on specific gameplay elements, the sizzle reel is a sweeping look at some of the bombastic set pieces and mythic locales that we’ll be exploring this fall.

As the title of today’s trailer suggests, the hapless adventurer from 2013’s reboot has been moulded into a true, hardboiled explorer, one who plots course for Siberia in order to locate and salvage the priceless elixir of immortality. The icy Russian province isn’t the only environment in Rise of the Tomb Raider, though, with Lara being sent into the depths of a Russian Gulag among many others.

Keen to drum up excitement for the sequel, Microsoft has unveiled gameplay footage in the past few weeks that also showcases some of the non-combat elements, and it’s understood that both the puzzle sections from the original game and general survival will feature prominently in Crystal’s follow-up.

Rise of the Tomb Raider will launch for Xbox platforms first on November 10, before Crystal Dynamics’ sequel makes its way onto PC and PlayStation systems in 2016.
