Fans of the Legacy of Kain series will be excited to hear that new evidence further suggests a resurrection of the beloved vampire franchise. Rumors began circling again after the recent patch release of AMD Catalyst revealed two references to the fictional vampire landscape with lines directly referencing “Nosgoth” and “War for Nosgoth.”

The significance of this rests in the fact that Nosgoth is the name of the world that the series is set in. Eidos forum poster, Corlagon, managed to dig deeper into the patch and provided clarification by pinpointing exactly where the references exist within the patch notes. Interestingly, Corlagon points out that the Legacy of Kain references occur in relative proximity of existing, or future, current generation titles. This seems to suggest that a new installment of the franchise could be arriving very soon for current generation platforms.

Further support of the notion of the franchise’s resurrection can be found in Square Enix’s recent aquisition of the domain name “WarForNosogth.com” and VGLeaks’ recent matching of the image below to the architectural configuration of the historical landmark in the Legacy of Kain series, the Pillars of Nosgoth. At this point, if Square Enix hasn’t been considering a return to Nosgoth I would be greatly surprised.

It will be interesting to see if Square Enix truly has something brewing for the Legacy of Kain franchise and where they choose to take the franchise next.

Will we be seeing a a new chapter in the saga of Raziel or Kain? Perhaps, fans will be seeing a brand new character born into a life of immortality in the land of Nosgoth. Whatever your thoughts are be sure to leave them in the comments below.
