Nintendo doesn’t want to risk being overlooked during November’s big, next generation console launches, so it’s decided to release two of its heavy (albeit portable) hitters during the latter portion of the chilly month. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Mario Party: Island Tour, to be exact. Both games will apparently launch on the same day (November 22), and will carry traditional $39.99 price tags.
If you’re wondering about Mario Party: Island Tour, it’s the same game that was announced back in April, during one of Nintendo’s Direct livestreams. At that time, it was known simply as Mario Party, but a subtitle has since been added. As a result, it’s probably safe to suggest that the game’s seven boards and Augmented Reality minigames will be tropical-themed.
Conversely, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is one of the 3DS’ biggest holiday releases, outside of Pokemon X and Y. Developed as a sequel to the series’ fantastic Super Nintendo outing, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, the game expectedly takes place after the conclusion of its predecessor’s events. In addition, it boasts a more colourful and cartoony look than most other Zelda games, and also lets Link turn into a 2D variant of himself, in order to solve puzzles and get to hard to reach areas.
Having been a fan of both series since their inception, I’m very interested in seeing how these games turn out. However, I admittedly wish that Nintendo had chosen an earlier launch period for them, because November is going to be an incredibly busy month in this industry.

The announcements demonstrate Nintendo’s aggressive approach to providing new games and experiences available only on Nintendo platforms for all types of people this holiday season. Nintendo 2DS
The newest member of the Nintendo 3DS family is designed specifically for anyone looking for a more affordable entry point into the world of Nintendo hand-held video games. Nintendo 2DS will be available in Red or Blue on Oct. 12 at a suggested retail price of $129.99.
Nintendo 2DS plays the entire library of packaged and downloadable games for Nintendo 3DS only in 2D. The system features a distinctive fixed, slate-type form factor, and optional carrying cases will be available in Red or Blue at launch at a suggested retail price of $12.99. Nintendo 2DS maintains many of the same hardware features as Nintendo 3DS: dual screens, game-play controls and touch-screen features. The system also has backward compatibility with the existing library of more than 2,000 Nintendo DS games, as well as access to wireless connectivity features like multiplayer online game play, fun Nintendo Video content and great digitally delivered games in the Nintendo eShop.
