Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter Exceeded In Over 24 Hours

This has to be a record as far as crowd-funding goes. The man who is famous for creating our favorite little blue bomber (Keiji Inafune), has already exceeded his Kickstarter goal of $900,000 for his new title, Mighty No.9, which means that we will be seeing this not quite Mega Man looking guy (his name is Beck) on the PC in the near future.

This has to be a record as far as crowd-funding goes. The man who is famous for creating our favorite little blue bomber (Keiji Inafune), has already exceeded his Kickstarter goal of $900,000 for his new title, Mighty No. 9, which means that we will be seeing this not quite Mega Man looking guy (his name is Beck) on the PC in the near future.

This really shouldn’t come as such a shock as the Capcom alumni has an avid fanbase who have been chomping at the bit for a hint of a possible new Mega Man title.

The game will focus on shooting robots and other types of baddies but we can also expect unique gameplay twists like taking abilities not only from bosses, but from regular enemies too. Kenji Inafune originally intended for the game to only have six main stages, with a seventh serving as a final showdown with the boss. Now that the game’s funding has started to spill over into the stretch goals we can expect two additional stages, bringing the game’s total number of stages to the oh so appropriate number nine.

Currently, the Kickstarter is at an astonishing $1.3 million dollars, which means the next stretch goal will likely be met within the day and we’ll be getting Linux and Mac versions of the game.

Mighty No. 9 is the little game that could and once all is said and done, it will likely go down as a triumph of modern indie gaming. You could say this is an example of the great things social media can accomplish, or you could say that giving people what they want leads to good things, but moreso than anything else, we will be getting an awesome new Mega Man styled game, and that’s a win for everyone!
