Sony and developer Media Molecule have confirmed plans to shutdown LittleBigPlanet servers in Japan.

Early reports had suggested the platform-holder was on the verge of closing down LittleBigPlanet services worldwide, leading the game’s Community Manager Steven Isbell to clarify the closure via Twitter.

It’s understood that LBP servers will now come offline in Japan for good on July 31, 2016, affecting LittleBigPlanet 3 across both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, LittleBigPlanet 2 on PS3, LittleBigPlanet on PS3, LittleBigPlanet Karting on PS3, LittleBigPlanet Portable for PSP, and even LittleBigPlanet for PlayStation Vita.

Per Twitter:

Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia will be the company closing down those servers late next month, and it remains to be seen whether the decision to take LBP offline will have any bearing on the west.

So, there you have it; Sony has nailed down plans to pull the plug on LittleBigPlanet servers in Japan. Tell us, will you be affected by next month’s closure?
