Billed as the next-gen release of the game’s PC debut last year, Flying Wild Hogs will look to bring series protagonist Lo Wang to the next generation of consoles with aplomb. And, in a post through PlayStation Blog, Artur Maksara — the studio’s level designer — hinted at the kind of bombastic action that fans can expect come release.

“Shadow Warrior is a bold reimagining of the classic 3D Realms’ shooter from independent developer Flying Wild Hog starring the legendary and quick-witted warrior Lo Wang. Combine the brute force of overwhelming firepower with the elegant precision of a katana to annihilate the merciless armies of the shadow realm in an exhilarating and visually stunning transformation of the classic first-person shooter.”

Originally released in 1997, Shadow Warrior is 3D Realms high-octane adventure in The Land of the Rising Sun. Following the aforementioned Lo Wang — who is essentially the long lost cousin of one Duke Nukem, with the same tongue-in-cheek humour — the game orbits around our protagonist’s days as a bodyguard for the malevolent mega-corporation, Zilla Industries.

Soon, though, Wang realises the company for what they really are, and seeks vengeance against them after they murder his old mentor, Master Leep, in cold blood. And, judging from this recently-released footage, we can surely expect a Tarantino-like tale of revenge.

Reloaded and rebooted, Shadow Warrior will make its way onto PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 26th. In the meantime, be sure to feast your eyes on the latest blood-drenched trailer and let us know whether you’ll be picking the re-release up in the comments.
