Marvel Vs. Capcom Origins Will Launch This September

Capcom has announced Marvel Vs. Capcom Origins, a new downloadable compilation that will become available this Fall. The two-game bundle will include Marvel Super Heroes (first released in 1995 for the Sony PlayStation, SEGA Dreamcast and Arcade), as well as Marvel Vs. Capcom: Clash of Heroes (originally released in 1998 for Arcade, though it was ported to both PlayStation and Dreamcast the following year).

This project will provide both titles with high-definition visual upgrades, along with trophies/achievements, dynamic challenges and a replay saving ability. However, Capcom has confirmed that the game won’t be upgraded to 16:9 widescreen. While that news is somewhat disappointing, fans will be pleased to hear the game will feature eight-player lobbies, as well as a spectator mode.

Marvel Vs. Capcom Origins is planned for a September 2012 release. It will be priced at 1200 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE Arcade and $14.99/€14.99/£11.99 on the PlayStation Network.

Having tried the excellent Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 earlier this year, I’m looking forward to this chance to see how the series began. What about you?
